Getting rid of "broken hairs"

If you are straightening your own hair with a flat iron or other heated appliance, and you notice little hairs sticking up when you get done, this may be a sign of hair damage.

The hairs sticking up are broken hairs. They used to be longer, but as a result of dryness or overusing heated appliances, they are now damaged.

As a short-term fix for this problem, I recommend using a pomade, such as Aveda's Control Paste to lay these unruly hairs down.

To permanently correct this problem:
  • Deep condition your hair at least once a week,
  • Do not use your heated appliance more than once a week.
  • Avoid heating your appliances up more than 400 degrees.
  • Also, apply a few drops of jojoba oil to your hair each night to keep it moisturized.
  • Get your hair trimmed regularly (about every 6 - 8 weeks.)

Hilary's Hair Clip

I was watching the news, and I saw Hilary Clinton's hair clip. The Secretary of State was apparently heading to the United Nations with this hairdo. What do you think? I must also add that my aunt used to use these kind of hair clips to keep her curtains in place. lol

VMA Recap: Celebrity Hair

So, last night was MTV's Video Music Awards. Here are some of the hair styles that stood out among the rest...

I actually liked Nicki Minaj's hair. I like the blunt cut and bangs on her and the daring colors she experiments with. Her pink hair reminded of me Jem and Holograms.

Next up Rihanna...
HATED IT! What is it with this girl and fire, death, and hell lately? Whatever it is, I'm over it. Aside from that, the wig was just too big and silly looking for her pretty face.

After getting over the initial distraction of Trey Songz's baby-tee jacket, I discovered that I kind of liked Kesha's hair. It goes along with her "garbage chic" theme. Although, her faux braid reminded me of my own mishap back in elementary school. Click here to read the story.

For those of you who loved the 90's, I'm sure you remember Jared Leto from "My So Called Life." Anyway, I'm not really a fan of this 'do. He kind of looks like the hairstylists I've gone to school with...not so much like a punk rocker to me. Zoolander comes to mind.

And last but not least...
I understand that with Lady Gaga, each and every time it will be ridiculous, so I won't even bother ridiculing her. I thought it would have been cool if her hair matched her outfits. Most of her dresses had deep red tones, not Snow-Cone pinkish/blues.
